In surgery hours, 8.30am-6.30pm Mon-Fri,
9.00am-12.00pm Sat, genuine emergencies will always be seen at Churnet Valley Vets as soon
as possible. Please telephone the surgery on 01538 360222 beforehand if possible to alert
us to your situation and estimated time of arrival.
After normal surgery hours, Churnet Valley Vets has arranged for emergency cases to be
seen at the specialised emergency clinic, Vets Now. Vets Now is manned by a qualified team
of vets and nurses who work entirely in emergency veterinary medicine. The staff only
provide emergency cover out of normal hours, so are fresh to deal with emergencies.
We believe that this is a far superior service to
the traditional system of vets doing their own on-call. When you ring Vets
Now you
speak to a specialist in emergency medicine who has not been working the day before and
will not be working the day after. They are refreshed and keen to help you.
You may just want advice or reassurance - you can ask for that without worrying
about getting a grumpy vet out of bed! And advice costs nothing! The Vets
Now
specialists will give you advice to get you through to the morning when your own practice
opens, or, if you wish will see and treat your pet.
